This was the first year fruit from these old vines was bottled separately. Deep red-ruby. Aromas of roasted strawberry, earth, smoke and mint. Smooth on entry, then chewy and deep in the middle, with a note of camphor. Easier to taste today than the normale owing to its sheer depth of texture. Finishes warm, rich and long, with tannins nicely supported by the winersquo;s strong material. Very impressive Barbaresco, from thoroughly ripe fruit.

Its sweet, potent, and deep flavors, packed and with much vanilla and licorice, finish with an important weight, intensity, and texture. Anticipated maturity: 2005ndash;2018.
The 2000 Barbaresco Sori' Paitin is a big, muscular wine loaded with dark fruit but little in the way of aromatic nuance. It's almost as if the wine has been frozen in time at some point, beyond which it never developed further. It is still an excellent Barbaresco, but frankly I expected more. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.
Paitinandrsquo;s Barberesco possesses the muscle and depth of the pricier Barolo. Dark ruby color in the glass with intriguing aromas signaling what will follow on the palate. Fantastic depth and complexity in this still young Nebbiolo. Black cherry, mushrooms and the classic (more so with Barolo) floral or rose element. Chewy and full-bodied with plenty of fruit and tannins. Best decant for an hour or two or age another 5 to 15 years. Excellent quality.
Attractive wild berry aromas and hints of minerals. Medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a chewy, fruity finish. Rather tight right now, but shows very good potential. Best after 2006.
Very fruity, with lots of crushed berries that follow through to tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and an earthy finish. Slightly rustic, but with a lovely texture. Best after 2007.
Impressive wine. Rich aromas of ripe fruit and freshly ground spices. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. A blockbuster, yet very polished. Best after 2003.
