RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

15.2% alcohol. Very nice cherry and menthol nose. Incredible minerality, with lots of eucalyptus, cedar and christmas cake spice flavors. The minerality keeps it fresh at the same time as the luxurious fruit gives it depth. Finishes on coffee and cocoa flavors.
With a powerful blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, this wine is an absolute monster. An opaque, inky purple core fades ever so slightly to a bright ruby rim. Poignant and profound aromas of crushed black fruit, cassis, tobacco, smoky meatiness and sweet spice dominate the nose. Massive lush dark fruit flavors are balanced by a heavy dose of silky tannins and fiery acidity. The wine finishes with intensity, persistence and elegance all at the same time. This is a colossal young wine and will evolve in the bottle for decades.
A robust Cabernet not unusual for Pahlmeyer. This winery produces some of the best Cabs in California. The Jayson is inexpensive for the experience. This is one of my favorites. The nose is heavy on the berrys. This has a smooth clean finish. Definitely would expect this to cost more than it does. It competes favorably with any of the proprietary releases.
WHY? Rare new release and highly sought after since Wine Spectator rated last vintage Outstanding 92 points (see below) WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: Firm, ripe and complex, with vivid red currant and black cherry fruit that's well-defined, structured and supported by firm, integrated tannins. Ends with a nice flash of toasty oak and mineral notes. Drink now through 2012. 92 points. J.L. PORTHOS INSIDER SCOOP: Pahlmeyer is a personal favorite and one of a few Cabernets I collect for the Porthos Personal cellar each vintage. Pahlmeyer has been a 'cult' collector sensation ever since it was featured as actress Demi Moores favorite wine in the 1994 film, Disclosure, starring Michael Douglas. Thanks to our friendship with proprietor Jayson Pahlmeyer, Porthos is allocated more of this wine than any other source but the demand is still far higher than our limited 'supply'! Porthos Taste? An extremely rich, plush, sophisticated style with great intensity and concentration, offering layers of currant, black cherry, melted chocolate and cedar notes floating along a silky smooth texture. Shows restraint and nuance on the finish. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2008 through 2012.
