Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 1997 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red Wine 750ml
Vineyard Designation: The five grape varietals comprising this vintage came from five ultra-premium vineyards in Napa Valley, which are located in the sub-appellations of Spring Mountain, Howell Mountain, Soda Canyon, Wooden Valley and Carneros. Each of these vineyards was expertly manicured; every effort was made to ensure that the fruit would develop its full flavor potential. Composition: 100% Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon: 73%, Cabernet Franc: 2%, Merlot 17%, Malbec: 1%, Petit Verdot: 7% Tasting Notes: Dense and grapey with rich, concentrated cherry, plum and currant spice notes, a supple texture and a remarkably long and sophisticated finish. (James Laube, The Wine Spectator ) "The 1997 Proprietary Red Wine flirts with perfection. This wine shares some of the chocolatey characteristics of the two Merlot vintages, but there is more cassis liqueur, blackberries, blueberries, and pain grille (toast) notes in this lavishly rich, flamboyant proprietary red. The wine's flavors lingered for 42 seconds on the palate. Full-bodied, marvelously concentrated and extremely well-balanced, this wine's acidity, tannin, and high alcohol are completely buried beneath the complex fruit and extract of this profound offering. I remember shaking my head in disbelief at the quality of this wine." 98 (Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate) Availability: The 1997 Pahlmeyer Red will be available nationally and internationally through fine restaurants and retail shops as of October 1, 2000. The wine can also be purchased directly from the winery. For further information, please contact the winery or look at our account map for locations in your area.
