Pagos del Rey Condado de Oriza Crianza Ribera del Duero 2007
The wine is made from grapes carefully selected from more than 20-year old-vineyards within the boundaries of Olmedillo, Anguix, and Villatuelda. The wine underwent 15 days of maceration and was fermented under controlled temperatures at 28 to 30º C. Once it completed malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 14 months in new American oak barrels with decanting every four months to achieve more oxygenation and expressiveness. Following aging in oak, the wine was bottled, where it remained in the winery for an additional nine months.
Condado de Oriza is a label produced by the Pagos del Rey ‘Olmedillo de Roa’ winery in the Burgos province of Ribera del Duero, Spain. The first harvest was in 2002 and the principal winemaker is Alberto Viyuela. The wines are 100% Tinto del Pais, the local name for Tempranillo. Each wine in the portfolio differs according to length of aging time and type of barrel (or not) used to store them before bottling and release.
