Pacific Rim Winemakers Riesling Vin de Glacière Selenium Vineyard 2007

Member Review by Nicole Ramsey:

Strong scent of lime and apple. Thick, sturdy legs that cling to the glass, but not sickly sweet and syrupy. Powerful burst of lime, peach, apple, and just a hint of tropical fruits, with an abrupt and slightly mineral finish. A very interesting dessert wine, managing to be thick and strong without any honey notes at all - this is great for super hot days because it won't be excessively sweet. Serve this with tiramisu, cheesecake, panna cotta, cinnamon apple pie and ice cream, after a citrus-heavy main course of chicken or fish, Mediterranean or Persian food, or with green olives and mild cheese.

First released by Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon Vineyard in 1992, Pacific Rim Dry Riesling quickly gained a loyal following among Riesling lovers. Known for its fresh and bright characteristics, the wine was a welcome alternative to over-oaked, one-dimensional white wines. As the American palate evolved in recent years toward wines with greater complexity and crisper acidity, the popularity of Pacific Rim Dry Riesling grew. Demand and enthusiasm for Pacific Rim Dry Riesling continued to gain momentum — and the excitement around the wine inspired a radical idea... the creation a winery exclusively dedicated to Riesling. In August of 2006, a small band of Bonny Doon expats moved to the Northwest from California with a common desire to craft the best Riesling in America... thus, Pacific Rim became its own winery. At Pacific Rim, we are passionate about Riesling (in fact, nearly 90% of Pacific Rim's production is comprised of Riesling wines); we are passionate about crafting world-class Riesling; and we are passionate about extolling the wondrous virtues of Riesling. Explore our website and — if you haven't already had the pleasure — try our wines. If you're not presently a Riesling zealot, we're certain that you, too, will soon discover the marvels of our favorite variety...Riesling. Read less

what a beautiful gold colour, a perfect match for the holidays, the viscosity is slightly thicker than water. a great texture !!!!! 10.5%Abv, 16.0% residual sugars smells like dried fruits; apricots, apples and grapes. the smell makes me salivate!! in an amazing way <3 on first taste; oh yeah!!! thats good, nice acidity, well balanced. slight bitterness to the short finish. very light body!!! could have a higher acididty and fuller body, but quite outstanding all in all this Ice wine from Columbia Valley AVA, is pairing great with the local red table grapes i picked up on the east coast in early December as well with the soft brie cheese from France. out standing rating: 88 grapes
