Oyster Bay Chardonnay Marlborough 2012
The philosophy of Oyster Bay is to produce fine, distinctively regional wines that are elegant and assertive with glorious fruit flavours. Oyster Bay Marlborough Chardonnay truly captures the character of Marlborough with pure, incisive, ripe fruit flavours. A combination of barrel and tank fermentation and the stirring of yeast lees achieves maximum softness, integration and texture. To retain all the natural assertiveness and flavour, no malolactic fermentation takes place. Clonal influences in the vineyard have been very important, providing smaller berries and enhanced flavour intensity.
Internationally-recognised for producing "elegant, assertive wines with glorious fruit flavours", Oyster Bay is also a winemaker with great viticultural vision. It was Oyster Bay that had the foresight, over two decades ago, to recognise the enormous wine-growing potential that lay beneath the stony, alluvial soils of a marginal sheep farming district in New Zealand's Hawkes Bay. Today that region is producing New Zealand's finest merlots.
A satisfyingly crisp Chardonnay from the prestigious Marlborough region of New Zealand. A tad herbaceous with a zesty mouthful of pear and citrus.

Lightly oaked to add hints of vanilla, buttered toast and caramel, but with no malolactic fermentation, so the wine maintains its brilliant acidity. Nicely balanced, with bright tropical fruit flavors. Good with grilled chicken or pasta.
The nose is filled with attractive toasty oak aromas mixes with a touch of butter. Medium bodied and fruit forward with a creamy texture; the palate shows tangy fruit and just the right amount of acidity that balances well with the oak.
