Fruit parcels were selected in the vineyard on the basis of their flavour and tannin structure. Many of the parcels were sourced from older, lower yielding Shiraz blocks at Oxford Landing and our growers' vineyards in the surrounding area. These parcels were then fermented in a combination of static fermenters and roto-fermenters to ensure maximum extraction of varietal fruit flavours and tannins. The result is a deep purple red wine with touches of ruby. Lifted dark berry and plum fruit aromas dominate the nose with hints of chocolate and anise. The palate is smooth and even with generous fruit flavours of licorice, raspberry and allspice. Soft tannins and berry fruit persistence lead to a long, slightly savoury finish.

On the light side, with a modest core of blueberry and spice flavors, which lingers on the gentle finish. Drink now.

Deep red. Jammy blackberry and blueberry aromas are straightforward and clear. Sweet black and blue fruit flavors are moderately deep and show no rough edges. Primary, sweet, supple and very easy to drink.

Dark purple. Ripe and youthfully grapey at first, but opens up quickly to take on more typically varietal aromas of blackberry, cassis, flowers, tobacco and tar. Shows a vaguely rustic tone in the mouth, with lots of sweet dark berry fruit, a note of smoked meat, a chewy texture and dusty tannins. Serious in style for this category.

A medium-bodied wine showing an intense crimson-red color and a bright purple hue. The aroma is of dark cherries and cloves with a subtle oak influence. Vibrant flavors of ripe berry fruits and stewed plums are made more complex by a mocha chocolate character, and balanced by a soft, luscious mid-palate texture.

Winemaker's Notes:

A deep purple red, the Oxford Landing Estates Shiraz 2011 has lifted aromas of plums and black cherries with hints of violets and white pepper. The generous palate has dark berry fruit flavours of blackberry and plum, complimented by soft, supple tannins with hints of chocolate and spice. The subtle oak influence and bright fruit flavours linger during the long succulent finish. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
