Owen Roe Cabernet Sauvignon Sharecropper's 2015

External Review:

Sharecropper's Cabernet represents the historical practice of shared responsibility, from growing grapes, making and then selling the wine. Sharecropper's is value priced wine for everyday enjoyment.

Owen Roe:
Since our first vintage in 1999, Owen Roe winery has been working to produce exceptional, hand crafted wines. We are especially committed to the low vigor hillside vineyards of Yakima Valley Washington. These vineyards yield fruit with low pH and high acidity, both harbingers of age-able wines.

We were served this wine at a local spa & inn after telling the bartender what we liked. We were pleasantly surprised! Enough to prompt us to seek this wine out. This is good now & I have bought a few bottles to put away because you can taste the potential!!

I've been delighted with this delightful cab which is rich and deep for a young wine. Mellow tannins, rich but not to pronounce fruit with a cherry/berry overtone and a very lovely finish.

Rich dark almost black purple, mellow beautiful ample tannins, taste of earth and strong berry with a finish that left me wanting more. It's simply for the price, a GREAT WINE

I wrote a review. It's not showing up. I am not going to rewrite it. Succinctly put: tastewise it compared favorably to a wine priced at $75. I'd rather have a half case of 08 Sharecroppers than 1 of the $75.

Ripe notes of black plum and pure cacao flavors abound and are bolstered by elegant scents of anise, tobacco and cranberry. The finish is lengthy and provides a precise acid structure. Drink now through 2015.

The fruit for this Pinot Noir was sourced from several sites in the Northern Willamette Valley, predominately the Eola-Amity Hills and the Yamhill-Carlton District. The warm summer of 2009 yielded fruit ripe with dark cherry cola flavors and an undercurrent of earth and coffee bean. This very balanced Pinot Noir is an excellent value.

Smoky blackberry and dark cherry aromas that leap out, signaling the showiness of this young Cabernet. Packed with juicy black fruit flavors--especially cassis--this is a big mouthful of Cab, with dried herbs and earth on the slightly chewy finish.

Winemakers Notes - The fruit for the 2008 Sharecropper Cabernet Sauvignon is all Columbia Valley AVA. With a beautifully long Indian summer the 2008 vintage yielded perfectly ripe fruit with lithe bright acidity. This wine has a beautiful nose ripe with blueberries, black currants, dark cherries and wild strawberries. A nice long finish lingers with flavors of licorice, olives and cedar. Muscular, but not a brute, firm tannins and elegant structure will let this wine age beautifully over 4-6 years.
