Ott/Bernhard Gruner Veltliner Wagram Fass 4 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

The most widely recognized wine from Ott is the Fass 4'. This GV is composed of 5 small parcels that surround the Rosenberg vineyard, also mainly composed of loess with some additional gravel as well. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 88 points by Wine Advocate: ...represents half his own fruit (mostly from younger vines) and the rest via contract with a grower who is in conversion to Ott's preferred biodynamic regimen. Tart rhubarb, lime and snap pea mingle on a palate of polish and palpable extract-richness yet ample refreshment and (at 12.5% alcohol) some sense of levity... will surely satisfy for the next several years if not beyond.

Der Ott wird seit 1997 produziert. Die Trauben stammen aus Bernhard Otts Top-Lagen. Zauberhaftes Bouquet, feine, gelbe Fruchtnuancen, helle Tabaknoten und feinste Wiesenkräuter. Am Gaumen überaus komplex, druckvoll, frisch und perfekt ausbalanciert.

Erlesene Leichtigkeit, frisch und knackig, lässig und erstaunlich erwachsen, so lautet Bernhard Otts treffender Beschrieb für seinen tollen Weisswein. Und mit nur 11,5% Alkohol ist dies ein perfekter Apéro- und Sommerwein.

Rosenberg ist eine kalkhaltige Lage am Wagram. Die Trauben stammen von bis zu 52-jährigen Rebstöcken. Komplexes, offenes Bouquet, gelbe Tropenfrüchte, elegante Würznoten, weisser Pfeffer, grossartige Mineralik. Am Gaumen wiederum komplex, enorm kompakt und herrlich finessenreich. Grosse Klasse. Leider nur limitiert verfügbar.
