O'Shaughneby Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2008
98 points Robert Parker: Absolutely prodigious... (500 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon off a site west of Oakville). Dense bluish purple to the rim, with a sensational nose of forest, flowers, graphite, and blueberry liqueur intermixed with creme de cassis and burning embers/charcoal, this wine has fabulous fruit, a remarkably full-bodied texture, great purity, and a finish that goes on for close to 50+ seconds. This is an awesome 2008 and one of the great wines of the vintage. It should drink well for 25+ years. (12/10)
The nose on this voluptuous wine opens to powerful aromas of floral and medicinal tints. The aromatic array broadens and balances at one hour and beyond, offering up notes of orange peel, blueberry and burnt pine. The palate launches closed and tannic, but after an hour this wine becomes spectacular, profound, and full of surprises. Many layers of flavors dance in the large, firm tannic structure. Wonderful, focused fruit surfaces continuously, integrating into the long, spicy finish with great elegance and finesse. At two hours, notes of orange peel, currant, brussels sprouts, and hot charcoal emerge to offer a unique influence on the palate, surrounding the fruity center with an edgy heat.
