Orogeny Pinot Noir Green Valley 2008
Our Orogeny Pinot Noir displays bright cranberry and Bing cherry aromas with seductive Asian spice and cinnamon nuances. The vibrant, silky flavors mirror the aromas, picking up blackberry and toffee notes on the lingering finish. This array of complex flavors comes from several small vineyards in the renowned Green Valley subappellation of Sonoma Countys Russian River Valley. The wines lush flavors complement roast duck with cherry sauce, pork tenderloin with wild mushrooms and grilled salmon.

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. There is a lot going on in this wine, but its idiosyncratic mix of red berries, root beer and sweet tea and spice pushes it wide of any classic varietal mark. It is similarly goes a little outside the lines with respect to its dense, slightly heavy feel, but it is saved by a bit of last-minute acid and is an interesting wine if never quite believable as Pinot.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.
