User Reviews for Orin Swift Zinfandel Blend Napa Valley the Prisoner
Add your reviewRipe, wild, lush berries that linger & mix with oak & black tea accents. Bright acidity. Since this is a mix, there is more acidity than a normal zin, so don't be shy to pair with heavier meals. If anything one might err on going with light pairings, and get put off by acid.
You are amazing Mr. Prisoner. You are that boyfriend or girlfriend all single people seek to meet. You are deep, complex, and spicy hot. After one date with you, most wine, especially in your price range, just pale in comparison. Blackberry, spice and without fault you are guaranteed to be love at first sight for anyone lucky enough to spend around $30 odd dollars to take you home.
Yummy! Smoother, don't get hit with peppery taste. More fruity than spicy.
I only recently got more into drinking and rating wine, and this is the bottle that got me into it. It blew my mind. The deep complex blend of reds was the most amazing wine I have every tasted.
Delicious, complex, deep, and cavernous. Like bunny's favorite hiding places.
Had this on Febriary 18 and had to refuse it, even after decanting. The 2010 vintage is nowhere close to the quality of earlier vintages like '05 and '08. No real mouth feel on the start and absolutely no tannin on the finish. Exceptionally disappointing for what has been a solid zin/cab blend in recent years.

A big, sexy, fruit bomb boasting abundant amounts of black, blue, and red fruits along with pepper, spice box, earth, and herbs. Soft tannins, medium to full body, and a heady mouthfeel.
The 2007 blends the lush berry flavors of Zinfandel, the power and concentration of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dark black fruit of Syrah, the intensity and structure of Petite Sirah, the flesh of Charbono, and a hint of Grenache - all combined for a decadent wine with great complexity. 50% Zinfandel 24% Cabernet Sauvignon 14% Syrah 9% Petite Sirah 2% Charbono 1% Grenache We continue to receive an overwhelming amount of inquiries about "The Prisoner". Not just the wine, but the image on the label. The image is inspired by an original etching depicting a prisoner in chains Dave Phinney received as a gift from his mother and father (Orin and Swift).

Orin Swift s Proprietary Blend The Prisoner has become the stuff of legend for many of us in the industry. We can never get enough - it always sells out - and (most importantly) the juice in the bottle is fantastic year in and year out.
Winemaker's Notes:
51% Zinfandel, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 12% Petite Sirah, 2% Charbono, 1% Grenache. The wine has a dense red and black hue that is framed in vibrant crimson. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig and vanillin oak accents are persistent. The entry is powerful and generous supported with lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously. Soft, integrated tannin chains allow the wine to be approachable now and provides for a pleasant finish. Alcohol 15.2%. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 90 points by Wine Spectator: ...a bold, rich red blend that's jammed with flavor. Aromas of blackberry and caramel lead to ripe plum, licorice and spicy vanilla flavors. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Charbono and Grenache. Drink now through 2017.
