What to Expect

The classic Bordeaux blends rely on either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for the bulk of the wine with additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec helping to add complexity, color, body and structure to the finished wine.

Winemakers Notes

TASTES? We just sampled this exciting new wine and proclaim it to be a true thriller for tonight or anytime over the next 5 years. Rich and savory, this Cabernet blend (63% CS, 19% Merlot, 9% Cab Franc, 7% Petite Verdot, and 2% Malbec) glides lightly across your palate and features soft layers of dark cherry, ripe sweet plums, anise, toffee, cocoa, rich smoky oak and a hint of truffles on the luscious finish. PAPILLON NAME ? Dave has always been fond of the movie in 1973 (starring Steve McQueen) and Daves daughter Angelina has always called butterflies papillons (French class). LABEL ART? read more...

Reviews

Deep red in color, almost black. Blck cherry, leaves, and spices on the nose. Smooth from start to finish, dark fruit with hits of licorice and light tannin. Very well balanced. (3/2009)

The new release of Orin Swift's Bordeaux blend - cab, merlot, cab franc, petite verdot, malbec - this new wine is as sleek as the ship from the Count of Monte Cristo, after which the winery is named. Simply fabulous.

I went to a wine tasting. This was offered due to what I was describing that I liked. It was awesome! Full bodied and delicious. I have yet to open the bottle I bought but I am really looking forward to it!
