The malt from Islay is typical from this area, giving a sweet after taste with the distinctive peety, earthy taste. This is a good scotch, but drinker beware, it's not for the untrained single malt drinker.
This is a very good "Smoky" Scotch! it's obvious that the above negative reviews came from persons who know very little about various scotch's. It has a very distinctive initial taste and a nice pleasurable after taste. Well worth the money.
This is the worst alcohol I've ever tasted in my life. It tastes like burnt shoe leather.
This actually quite a fine Islay malt. Not the pure smoke of Laphroag of coarse, but still a drink for the malt drinker. The bad reviews here are simply by people who are not familiar with this type of Scotch.
I had some thought it tasted strange. I dislike it very much. Do not waste your money on this. I work in a chemistry lab and considering doing some analysis on this. It really tastes horrible. I can not bare to waste a good mixer to cover the taste and the taste is so bad that it would ruin the mixer and still taste this ruinous liquid.
I travel to Scotland often and have experienced many of the local spirits firsthand. I think that this is a very good Scotch. I have to admit that when I made the purchase I wasn't sure what I was getting. That said I would definately purchase this spirit again.
