This wine is #15 on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines for 2008. Owner of the Sette Ponti estate, Dr. Antonio Moretti's enjoyment of wine led him to ask his friend and customer for his grapes, Piero Antinori if his estate vineyards could produce great wines. Antinori thought they could. The estate has since been transformed through consultation with respected oenologist Carlo Ferrini and others to produce the finest grapes possible. The blend for this Oreno is 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot from the oldest vines on the property. At harvest the clusters are handpicked, sorted, destemmed. Maceration lasts 25 days and then the wine is placed in new, 225-liter Allier oak barriques for a period of twelve to eighteen months. A first blending of lots takes place when the wine is placed in barrique; a second at the first racking. The finished wine is bottled without filtration and rests one year prior to release. It garnered a 96 point score from Wine Spectator who said “Shows loads of black licorice, blackberry and toasty oak. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long, long finish. Has wonderful concentration and balance. Structured. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Best after 2013.” ON SALE!!

Spicy aromas of black fruit and touches of chocolate dominate the nose and palate. The wine is full-bodied, with supple tannins. A delicious companion to full-flavored meats, game and roasts.

#15 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008An internationally-styled, super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine's dense aromas of cassis and black stone fruit are offset by notes of herbs, spice and sweet oak which carry
