The first few vintages, beginning in 1979, instantly created a luxury brand fetching prices upwards of $50, then considered the height of indulgence. They were produced by Mouton Rothschild winemaker Lucien Sionneau and Robert Mondavi’s son, Timothy. Opus One boosted the then fledgling Napa industry, adding a certain air of pedigree to the region.    The wines are now under the direction of Michael Silacci, produced as a Meritage blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. This “cult” wine is now in constant demand the world over, from American steak houses to private Japanese cellars.  Read less

the jammy dark berry flavors are well balanced with the spicy oak finish. The blend gives it the perfect amount of earthiness without the cigar box\leather taste. I'm a fan.

Much better than the 2005 that I had 2 years ago. Much smoother with less of that "European terroir" bouquet and taste. Still not worth this pice tag....but a good wine nonetheless.

Won't make the same costly mistake again. There are so many other wines that I would select over this. It wasn't a bad wine, it just didn't live up to the hype or cost.

For the price it is not worth it.

Opus One Napa Valley Good full ruby. Roasted black raspberry, blackberry, spicecake, licorice, minerals and nutty oak on the nose. There's lovely sweetness to the black fruit and licorice flavors.
