What a wine Now only starting to show its real potential Opened up a bottle at the Maritim Hotel in Mauritius on 24/01/2011 Cork excellent Nose good bordeaux Colour typical of a wine of this age Tannis stil very good -- still good aging potential Initially to strong but with food this wine carried itself This is a typical example of a well structured wine made even with reservations about the vintages that with time will come to its full potential

Winemaker's Notes:

Already slowed by El Niño’s winter flooding, the growing season of 1998 extended into late October, promoting a very long ripening period for Opus One’s grapes. Supple and lush, the 1998 Opus One shows an opaque purple color and intense aromas of blackberries, vanilla, and roasted espresso. The wine offers superb balance, a resilient middle body and a seamless texture.
