Wine Spectator ReviewRated 97Like the '87, there's a wonderful sense of harmony and finesse to this graceful, elegant wine. Lots of complex flavors, with tiers of spicy currant and black cherry. Long, intricate aftertaste.Opus One vertical. Best from 2002 through 2014.(Feb 29, 2000)

Dark ruby-red. Exotic, vibrant aromas of cherry, redcurrant, tobacco, mint, cigar ash and white pepper. Thick, supple and very concentrated; really uncanny creamy sweetness and texture in the middle palate. Intriguing note of sarsaparilla. Substantia... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. The 1994 vintage was one of the coolest growing seasons recorded in a decade. It all started with a sunny and dry March and an early bud break. Summer was cooler than average, extending the growing season and the "hang time" of the grapes resulting in lprofound and ong-lived wines. The varietal make-up is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% Malbec. The wine had 43 days of skin contact and aged 18 months in new French oak barrels.
