Opolo Sangiovese Paso Robles 2009
This medium-bodied wine features a bright, fruity nose with hints of spice which definitely follow through to the finish. This versatile wine is easy to pair with nearly anything because its acidity is lively enough to stand-up to some rather acidic food choices such as tomato-based sauces.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Recommended by our local "small" wine shop as an excellent value. My wife and found it to be wonderful wine with strong Sangiovese characters. Not as tannic as the Big Italian guns, but a beautfiul California interpretation; a bit more fruit forward, but not a fruit-bomb by any means.
I thought it was a very good wine. It really smoothed out after it had time to breath. Kind of sweet cherry on the nose. My first experience with Sangiovese, I would recommend it.
