Nice sweet fruit aroma, slight berry on the tongue with some smooth oak. Not bad for the price-$5!!
What a nice surprise! I'd give this a 4 1/2 or 5 for the money. An interesting nose of earth and berry (A touch of dirty sox) but subtle enough to be interesting and not offensive. The taste is a very rounded berry with some intrigue of oak, earth, eucalyptus and spice... Very well balanced. There's nothing artificial here like many of the cheap Merlots. The finish is surprisingly long and fruity with a hint of cherry cough drops on the release. Definitely the best Merlot I've ever had for $3.99! Hope it's still on sale.
