Old Zin Vines Oak Ridge Winery Zinfandel California Ozv 2009
Oak Ridge Winery was founded in 1934 as a winemaking cooperative of local growers. During the last 8 years a historic landmark has been transformed into a state-of-the-industry winery. Today we are family-owned and operated, proud of our heritage and passionate about creating wonderful wines.
Very peppery nose with roasted aromatic herbs. Roasted meat jus and dark plum aromas. Nose suggests "heat." On the palate, it's not hot. Fruit leans a touch pruny. Cracked black pepper flavors over savory cured meats with briary blackberry and plum skin. Some dried leaf suggestions and old leather notes with cigar box. Pepper drives this wagon, so if you like them heavy on pepper notes, this is the zin for you. 82 pts.
Purple in the glass, strong fruit, sour berry. [From "Thankgiving Favorites" at Bin 105, Lincoln NE, 11 November 2012.]
This is the best red zin I have had to date. I found it at a wine specialty store for under 11 dollars and was blown away. The wine has a very smooth finish without the bite of some other red zins. The bottle says it is jammy with notes of raspberry, mocha and coffee but having a humble palate myself, all I can attest to is that its worth every penny and a very good red zin!!!
Dark and smooth.
This is a fruitful full body red zin, great with steaks on a hot day, served at 62 degrees makes it very refreshing
