Old Ghost Zinfandel United States 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

century, their family had sold their premium, old vine fruit to benchmark Zinfandel producers that is until 2000,when Steve and Lori started Klinker Brick Winery in Lodi, CA.The Feltons own 250 acres, most of which is old vine Zinfandel planted along the Lodi Mokelumne River Regionand in the Clements Foothills. Divided into fifteen individual blocks, the vines are planted to sandy loam soils andrange from 35 to 110 years old. Generally head-trained and dry farmed, the average yield is 2-3.5 tons/acre; theolder vineyards may yield as little as .25 tons/acre. Steve and Lori also own a small 16 acre parcel of Syrah calledFarrah vineyard. Although the Feltons continue to make wine from all of the vineyard blocks, only the best fruit isused for Klinker Brick and their single vineyard wines."We started the winery with the 2000 vintage of Old Vine Zinfandel. We added the 2001 Farrah the next year, andthe 2003 Old Ghost a couple of years later. Old Ghost of course, represents the best of what we make every yearand is usually a single vineyard selection, stated Steve Felton. "We have one goal...to produce world-class wine.
