Okanogan Estate & Vineyards Riesling Washington Ice Wine Orchard Hills Vineyard 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes: This sweet wine was pressed from frozen Riesling grapes harvested in mid-December . Mouth watering baked apple and pear aromas lead to rich sweet flavors of apricots and peaches with plenty of acid to balance nicely with the sugar. Layers of complex fruit flavors linger with hints of vanilla and honey that lead to an extended silky finish. Vineyard Notes: Okanogan Estate & Vineyards is located in Oroville, Washington, a turn of the century gold mining town, just five miles south of the Canadian Border on U.S. Highway #97 and minutes from British Columbia's renowned Okanagan Valley wine region. Due to the northern location, the winery is truly unique to the State of Washington and presently the only winery found on the U.S. side of the Okanogan Valley. Technical Notes: Appellation: Washington State pH : 3.5 TA : 7.25 RS: 16.0% Alcohol: 13.8% Return to Okanogan Estate and Vineyards wine list

A hidden treasure in the Okanogan's premier grape region, Okanogan Estate & Vineyards is the first winery in this fruitful valley to open in the United States. Located in North Central Washington State, j ust 5 miles south of British Columbia Canada on Hwy 97. Okanogan Estate & Vineyards is a hidden treasure located in Oroville, Washington a turn of the century gold mining town in Washington State’s Okanogan Valley, five miles south of British Columbia, Canada on Highway #97. The origin of our winery name stems from the town of Oroville. “ORO” is the Spanish word for “GOLD” and was the original name of the town. In 1938 the local fruit cooperative, United Growers needed a name for their fruit label. The innovative growers thought “Gold Digger” would be an appropriate name for the label because of the town’s gold mining history. In later years the company changed their name to Gold Digger, which is now the parent company of our winery “Gold Digger Cellars”. The company is still a cooperative owned by the local grape / fruit growers. Staying with the “gold” and “mining” theme of the town, we carried the name over to the winery. Oroville’s current day treasures are the vineyards tucked away on the hillsides of the fruitful valley and the handcrafted wines with unique flavors and characteristics of the region. Okanogan Estate & Vineyards is a small winery dedicated to producing handcrafted quality wines. From years of experience, growing premium fruit in the Okanogan Valley region, we take pride in our local vineyards where 100% of our grapes are grown. We carefully monitor them to ensure the quality of our grapes and the development their flavor and complexity through progressive growing practices, mixed with a hot, arid, desert like growing climate. We hand pick all of our grapes adding to the premium quality of our wine. Okanogan Estate is committed to producing wines with unique flavors and characteristics of the region. Read less
