What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Editorial Reviews

The aromatics here present quite a contrast with a fresh, crisp celery note intertwined in the sweet black cherry core of fruit. There are hints of sweet tea, veal stock and fresh shitakes adding complexity but there is also a touch of rum on the nose that is a little off-putting. On the palate this is large scaled if soft with a wonderfully plush texture to the cherry and rhubarb fruit with hints of tar and subtle spice tones drawing out the moderately long finish. 90pts

Reviews

Fungal nose with piles of beef bouillon and a hint of brown sugar. A smooth and refreshing complex wine with hints of smoked bacon, damp soil, earth, soy sauce, leather and oak. There's even a hint of sweetness. Good acidity which is not overpowering this balanced and extremely pleasant wine.

So interesting b/c the aromas make it appear as if you are about to sip a sweet wine - sweet nectarines, butterscotch and brown sugar crystals on the nose, palate has softened, no harsh tannins, light cherry flavors, dried tea leaves with a little funkiness to it, hints of earthy mushrooms, finish is fabulous
