O'Brien Family Vineyard Seduction 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Winemaker's Notes: David Yorgensen, our winemaker, worked with renowned winemaking consultant Philippe Melka at Seavey Vineyard. David joined us as our full time winemaker in 2004 to complete the aging, blending, and bottling of the 2004 vintages and has been responsible for all aspects of winemaking and cellar management since then. Our vineyards are managed by Pina Vineyards, who also manage Bryant Family and Gemstone vineyards. We do not use any pesticides or herbicides in our vineyard. Tasting Notes: Seduction is a proprietary red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot from the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley appellation. Deep, dense purple throughout, this wine displays wonderful aromas of sweet black cherry, warm licorice, cedar, oak and toasted espresso bean. Intense currant, berry and crème de cassis flavors on the palate are framed by fine grained tannins in this full bodied, supple, well concentrated blend. This wine will age well for 10 years or more. Technical Notes: Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot Appellation: Oak Knoll District Titratable acidity: 0.064 g/100ml Volatile acidity 0.063 g/100ml pH: 3.47 L-malic acid: Glucose+fructose: 0.04 g/100ml Return to O'Brien Family Vineyard Wine List

O'Brien Family Vineyards:
O’Brien Estate began as a romantic dream over 20 years ago when we visited Napa Valley on our third date. We wanted to create wines that reflected the soil they were grown in and our passion for authentic wines made without artificial techniques. Only traditional Bordeaux winemaking practices and French oak barrels would be used to allow the wine to fully express its nuances.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

This is my favorite wine in the world. I'm not an oenophile, but I know what I like and I like this.

The great color (purple to the rim!) of the 2004 Seduction leads to pure blue and black berry fruit, intermixed with accents of graphite, tar and toasty vanilla tinged oak framed with satiny (not quite silky) tannins. This wine is nicely fruit forward (but not jammy) while retaining good balance in a very approachable and drinkable young wine!
