One of the most complex Merlots I've ever had. The first hit to your palate is a whirlwind of different tastes of complexity and structure. Nicely balanced with a smooth supple finish. You can't beat a Merlot of this maturity for the price. I highly recommend this wine!

Oberon has beefed up their Merlot to create a wine lovers dream. The tannic acid is mellowed by a creaminess that adds depth and complexity to this fine Merlot. A nice hit of spice and berries are mingled with the classic cherry flavors and the oak is very subtle showing its presence only to add structure and back bone to the Merlot juice.

86% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Oberon wines begin in the great vineyards of Napa Valley. Winemakers, Tony Coltrin and Rob Mondavi, nurture exceptional fruit from the classic Oakville, Rutherford and Stags Leap appellations, and from Napa's emerging sub-appellations. Oberon Merlot is ripe with blueberries and chocolate.

Winemaker's Notes:

To naturally soften tannins and enhance varietal complexity, we gave the wine 28 days of skin contact. We then pressed the wine and transferred it to French oak barrels to undergo a long malolactic fermentation for roundness and depth. Blending in the Cabernet Sauvignon added interesting nuances to the lush berry flavor profile of the Merlot.
