- Notes on the Oakville East "Exposure" Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Oakville 2005 : NVWE NOTES: This is an enormously rich, sip-able Cabernet, with dark, earthy, slightly brooding impressions of rich cherry syrup and ripe berries tied to bouillon, smoke and brown bread. It shows a more traditional food-service balance on the palate, but is still luxuriously rich, with lots of mulberry, brandied cherry, mocha, vanilla and bouillon. The shift toward food compatibility is complete at the finish, which is balanced enough for rich roasts and steaks. Better still in two years, it read more...will give plenty of pleasure right now. Blended with 7% Cabernet Franc. 672 cases WINEMAKER NOTES: The long, cool 2005 growing season allowed for maximum ripening conditions for Oakville East, contributing to the development of supple tannins, rich color and intensely flavored fruit, without an increase in sugar or alcohol levels. The 2005 Oakville East - Exposure echoes the supple elegance and integrated tannins of the inaugural release; it is comprised of a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc (from the Saunders Oakville East mountain-top vineyard) providing an impeccably defined palate. A showy, sensual dark red color with enticing aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, tobacco and mocha intensify the attractiveness of the 2005 bottling. Balanced acidity gives the wine a charming brightness, supporting the mature fruit and spice flavors, resulting in a graceful, silky-sweet finish.
