Oak Ridge Winery was founded in 1934 as a winemaking cooperative of local growers. During the last 8 years a historic landmark has been transformed into a state-of-the-industry winery. Today we are family-owned and operated, proud of our heritage and passionate about creating wonderful wines.
A very nice, very flavorful yet moderately priced zin. I will look for it in my area.
spicy/blackberry jam scent a little thin, buttery has a sweet, smoky finish
Needs to decant and open up a bit prior to tasting. Full berry flavor - a bit on the fruity side - quite smooth and a wonderful finish - good everyday drinking wine for the price. Just had another bottle and it was way to fruity - there is no consistency with this wine - this batch was way to sweet.
Good $30 Zinfandel - not crazy about their other wines but this, they got it right - sweet but just the right amount - lots of berries with a great nose - this was the last of 4 Oak Ridge wines we tried and was suprised - pleasantly - the others were ordinary - this was a step above - $30 a bit much, $15-20 is more like it but a good wine none the less.
If you like sweet Zinfandel, this is the wine for you - I think this is way more fruit than necessary - very disappointing - did not even finish the bottle - it came highly recommended so I guess I was expecting more. I have another bottle and a bottle of the reserve. I am hoping the next two are better. I will give both more time in the cellar for certain. You can also do much better for the price. I paid $16 and their $8 bottle of Gnarled Vine is better.
Smooth, very berry, a little sweet. Great as a dessert
If you like "Zins".. then for the quality and the price you can't go wrong. About $8.00 a bottle, its very smooth, nice and fruity. Its a bit lighter than most Zins I purchase so if you like those heavy wines then this one is not for you. I would rate this wine 4 stars.
