Oak Leaf Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Lodi NV

Member Review by Rocknet:

During the July Fourth weekend (2009), I attended an outdoor party on the banks of the Yahara River north of Stoughton, Wisconsin. Oak Leaf cabernet sauvignon was one of the red wines choices offered and always being the inquisitive (never heard of the label before) I asked for a glass. Not knowing anything about the wine or it's low cost, I was pleasantly surprised by the chunky fresh cranberries, dark color and medium body. So when I asked what vintage it was, the host had no idea what I was was talking about and instead handed me the bottle. I was shocked...it was non-vintage and I ... liked it! I was impressed, but keep in mind the nose was raw and the wine was monolithic. But it's fruity, easy drinking and not offensive. On the 100 point WS scale, I'd rate it 83 pts. The non-vintage aspect of this wine may make it difficult to acquire consistent bottlings.

Fruity, lacking tanins but good for the price which is an unbeliveable $2.97 here in NC.

One of the best boxed wine for the price... can't beat it! I also like the oak leaf shiraz in the bottle...

I think this box of Cabernet Sauvignon kind of lacks in flavor. I like the stronger flavors of the grape to come though. Maybe this batch is different from what others have had (reviewed). The flavor that exists is still good. I can't give it anywhere near five glasses, but the price is unbeatable for what you get.

Not a bad price, but flavor is a little lacking. that's my preference, most people will probably love it.

i really can't believe how smooth this is. there's nothing complex about it at all. the color is a see-through red but damn the strawberry cream flavor it does have is damn good. i'm shocked really

As I am writing this, I am sipping on a glass of Oak Leaf Cabernet and it is very smooth and pleasant to drink. Remove the cork and let it air for about 30 minutes and you will love it. No bitterness, just a mellow wonderful taste. Thank you Oak Leaf Vineyards and Walmart.
