International Wine Cellar ReviewRated 90Medium red. Rich cherry, blackberry and chocolate aromas expand in the glass and gain an exotic incense quality. Creamy dark fruit flavors offer palate-staining concentration, with building spiciness and gentle tannins adding support. Finishes with good spicy lift and excellent persistence, with the blackberry flavor repeating.Wine Tasting NotesThe aroma is tumescent with BLUEBERRY fruit! Blended with this wonderful robust blue fruit one can find Moroccan spices, a hint of butterscotch, and believe it or not a sense of gravel earthiness. As the aroma implies and promises, the flavor is concentrated blueberry and blackberry juice, which aids integration of nice spice flavored French oak. The palate is rich, creamy, and super juicy! This whopper of a wine seems to have everything. Rocky earthiness, black forest cake, and a surprise raspberry to red cherry flavor in the long finish.

92 Points -Wine Spectator The Nuthouse designation is used for Argyle's biggest, boldest, and tumescent style of Pinot Noir. This Nuthouse blend is predominantly based on Pinot Noir fruit from low elevation blocks at their estate Lone Star Vineyard in the Eola Hills. Nuthouse takes its name from where it is barrel aged and fermented in Argyle's winery that was formerly a hazelnut drying facility. This is a very powerful Pinot Noir from an interesting vintage. This wine rewards the patient imbiber who lingers over a glass of wine while it develops in the glass. The aromas are comprised of a concentrated blackberry center with radiating essences of cedar cigar box, roasted pecan, vanilla bean, jam packed dark chocolate Black Forest Tort, and a wonderful black truffle earthy component. Foretold by the aromas intensity, the palate of this wine is Nuthouse concentrated. A juicy plus core is wrapped up by blackberry fruit leather, red cedar box, and a long fruity blackberry to blueberry finish. The big time tannins of this wine are hidden under a very juicy sweetness.

94 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: `The Nuthouse cuvee is released a year behind the other Pinots. The 2005 Pinot Noir Nuthouse is one of the major successes of a challenging vintage. It has a slightly aged appearance and is exhibiting an alluring perfume of spice red fruits and blueberry. On the mid-palate it has a wide band of fruit atypical for 2005. It has the structure of the vintage so it may well evolve for 4-5 years and drink well through 2020. It is a home run for the vintage.` (10/08) 93 points Wine Spectator: `Bright effusive and generous with its raspberry red cherry nutmeg and cream flavors lingering impressively on the polished finish. This jumps out of the glass not for its size or any single element but for its seamlessness and focus. Drink now through 2013.` (10/08) 93 points from the International Wine Review: `The medium dark ruby Nuthouse Reserve is a gorgeous beautifully balanced wine. Sweet aromas of candied dark cherry smoke and cooking spice emanate from the glass.
