Dark flavor and dusky tannins, but not a particularly interesting or memorable wine, IMO. A steal at Wine Library for $10 as part of a 2-pack, but nothing I'd buy again.

Inky ruby. Powerful smoke-accented aromas of dark berry preserves, licorice, mocha and candied flowers. Plush and seamless on the palate, offering juicy blackberry and boysenberry flavors and a sexy floral quality. A vanilla accent adds sweetness to the finish, which clings with excellent tenacity and focus. I also had the chance to retaste the 2009 Numanthia and 2009 Termanthia this summer, wines that I rated 92 and 94 points, respectively, last year. While the Numanthia has started to close up a bit (aeration helps a lot to bring out sappy dark berry and floral character), the Termanthia is simply stunning right now. It shows superb depth as well as energy, offering an array of black and blue fruit flavors and a bracing jolt of refreshing acidity. I suspect that it will shut down at some point soon but for now it's a real thrill to drink.

So let us commence with recent releases. The 2010 Termes is raised in 30% new French oak for 16 months before bottling in June 2012. It has a soft, mint-tinged bouquet with light dried rose petal tones. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry, prickly red berry fruit, cedar and graphite originating from the oak. The finish is quite sharp with a dash of white pepper lingering on the aftertaste. This is a perfectly pleasant Toro red. Drink 2014–2018.
