Nugan Estate Shiraz Riverina Visión 2011

External Review:

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented in American oak and aged for 12 months in new and used French oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits a nose of cedar, tobacco, cassis and black currants. Medium-bodied and forward in the mouth, the wine is nicely balanced and friendly. Drink it over the next 3ndash;4 years.

The Nugan family has invested much time and energy to develop vineyards in Australiarsquo;s finest wine growing regions in order to produce the highest quality grapes. Ruby red in color, this wine exhibits flavors of black cherry and ripe dark berries and a touch of toasty oak. It is balanced and structured, with soft tannins and a lengthy finish. Fantastic bargain for the quality!

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses excellent fruit and texture in addition to plenty of varietal character in its tobacco-edged, cregrave;me de cassis aromatics and flavor profile. It is moderately tannic, medium-bodied, and filled with fruit.

Originally from Valencia, Spain, the Nugan Family is known more for their exceptional produce than for their wine. That having been said, this could well be the very best under-$10.00 Cabernet I have ever tasted from Australia. With a burst of black fruits that just wonrsquo;t quit, the long, full finish is met with just the perfect dose of vanilla. Of course, any winemaker will tell you that exceptional fruit is the single most important factor for making a great wine.

Deep crimson with a youthful purple hue. Appealing aromas of red berry melded with licorice and vanillin oak nuances. Rich and concentrated flavours of blackcurrant and cassis with soft supple tannins, vanillin oak and elegant acid structure.

Hot climate, riper fruit. I liked this very much. It is not your typical Cabernet mdash; the fruit is sweeter and the tannins are very soft. A great starter Cab.

The top-flight 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon includes a dollop of Shiraz in the blend. It possesses juicy cassis fruit, medium body, soft tannins, and admirable flavor ripeness as well as intensity. This type of wine is rarely found at Bordeauxrsquo;s lower level, but frequently emerges from Australia. Drink it over the next 4ndash;5 years.
