Nugan Estate Shiraz Riverina Visión 2008

External Review by Prestige Wine & Spirits:

Starts with aromas of clove, coffee and black olive, then adds brighter flavors of red berries on the palate before picking up some tea-like notes and a hint of chocolate on the finish. This medium-bodied Shiraz should prove versatile at the table.

Nugan Family Shiraz is the epitome of Australia's signature varietal - juicy raspberry and tart pomegranate laced with the classic white pepper bite at the tip of your tongue. The deliciously fruity flavors are carefully balanced by the firm tannic structure to create a hearty red that pleases wine connoisseurs and neophytes alike. Pop open one of these at your next barbecue and soon your parties will be the talk of the town!

Smooth and rich, with blackberry fruit; hints of dark chocolate, licorice and black pepper add interest on the finish.

A top value in Aussie Shiraz, grab the remaining bottles before it's supplanted by the 2007, which isn't quite as richly textured. The 2006 is slightly leafy and peppery on the nose, giving a welcome sense of complexity to the blackberry fruit. It's firm without being hard, with a surprisingly long finish.

Appealing aromas of plums, blueberries, pepper and spice. This is a powerful display of dark berry fruit with velvety tannins and a smooth finish.

The medium crimson-colored 2008 Vision Shiraz exhibits aromas of smoked meat, game, and blueberry. Medium-bodied and sweetly-fruited, it has ample savory flavors, good balance, and a medium-length finish. It, too, can be enjoyed over the next 4 years.
