Notro Tinto de Montana 2007
Out Notro Sangiovese/Bonarda ofers aromas of ripe red berries on the nose. It is medium-bodies on the palate, with soft, supple tannins and plenty of juicy, red fruit flavors. It is the perfect everyday accompaniment to pizza or pasts dishes, or Latin American favorits including empanadas or roasted pork shoulder.
This wine reminded me a lot of Chianti, no doubt due to the 50% sangiovese in the blend. This wine has a light body and features red fruit flavors including cherry. Tannins were pretty easy and the acidity adds nice sharpness. I think that this wine would pair nicely with a vast array of dinner options. Not overly complex, but an excellent value for the cost.
Wow, after reading the bottle and the other review, I'm beginning to wonder if my bottle was corked. I detected NO fruit at all, not on the nose or the palate. To me it smelled smoky and tasted like tobacco. Maybe I'll try again, maybe not.
OMG, try it with chocolate, then come find me...
I thought this was was very good and quite smooth for the price. For a $10 wine (approx), I really liked it. I'm used to drinking mostly pinot noir's, and this was very different, yea a little smoky, but plenty of fruit flavor. Remember, this is all personal opinion. This wine is definately worth a try. If you don't like it....you can always cook with it. Wine should never be wasted.
By no means is it the best wine I've ever had, but it was VERY good. I would buy it again. I am a Sangiovese fan in general and I enjoyed the blend with a grape I don't see often.
You will either love it, or not like it much at all. It took me a few minutes to appreciate the the fragrant and almost overpowering floral note, but after that I was hooked. I sniffed slowly before each sip, lingering over the rich, flowering aroma. What a different and distinctive wine for the price! It's like drinking an exotic night blooming blossom.
