This has the classic scents of Salice Salentino; dried tomatoes, burnt rubber, pruny fruit but it all comes together well in a rather rugged, dirt on the bottom of one's boots sort of way. In the mouth this has surprisingly bright acids and melting tannins supporting the fading notes of dried raspberries and dates. In the glass this gains more savory, barnyardy notes and softens up considerably. Excellent for the short term and a perfect match for a nice, gamy, Venison or wild boar stew! 88pts

Madirized - caramel and butterscotch on the nose, along with a bit of acetone. The acentone continues in the mouth, along with secondary aromas like saddle leather, black cherry and pine. Its not a young wine, and for the price has aged well, retaining a lot of the acidity, which allows it to pair well with food (i served it with a roast pork shoulder and roast potatoes / trimmings)

winemaker's notes: `A pure Negroamaro from 20-year old Notarpanaro vineyards in the Salento area. After traditional fermentation Notarpanaro is aged for 36 months (six of which are in Allier Nevers and Tronçais). To add extra elegance Notarpanaro is aged for three more years in the bottle before release. Ruby red in color with a very elegant bouquet of tobacco and licorice Notarpanaro is rich and full-bodied offering delicious flavors of ripe red berries pepper anise and spice. With a complex texture framed by fine tannins Notarpanaro is the wine of choice for roasted meat game sausages and medium-aged cheese.

Leuchtendes Rubinrot mit orangefarbenen Reflexen, füllig, anhaltendes Bouquet, kraftvoll, ausgewogen, angenehme Bitternote im Finish.
