What to Expect
Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.
Winemakers Notes
With intense, jammy aromas of blackberry and cassis, and spicy overtones of black pepper and fennel, the deep, ruby color promises a full and complex taste. The flavors surpass your expectation with layers of berry fruit, coffee and roasted walnuts. Bold and intense yet superbly balanced, the smooth, full mouth-feel lingers into a dark chocolate aftertaste. Will compliment any spicy, red meat entrée such as pork roast or rack-of-lamb. Enjoyable now, or cellar age until 2015.

Nearly everything about this Petite is big: It’s dark, ripe and concentrated, with ample blackberry fruit, hints of tobacco and white pepper and some mocha on the finish. The tannins are quite firm and drying, so the wine calls read more...
