Norman Santa Barbara County Pinot Grigio 2008

Member Review by ffchick:

The back of the bottle said the enjoy by 2010, so I decided I should open it up last night. Let me start by saying I am more of a red wine drinker so I have little experience with whites and varietals in particular. Nor am I a professional wine taster, so what it boils down to for me is 1) do I like it 2) would I buy more. In short, my answer is Yes. This wine is very pale in color, almost clear. On the nose I detected pear and apple. First sip was immediately pleasing: fresh, crisp fruit flavors followed by a nice dry finish. When I paired it with sauteed shrimp for dinner, it brought out distinct pineapple flavors in the wine. For $4 at GO (minus the discount) this is a great buy.

Norman Vineyards:
Welcome to Norman Vineyards, a small family owned winery in the beautiful hills west of Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. We’ve been growing grapes here for over 30 years, and making wine for over 15. Our specialty over the years has been elegant Cabernet and Meritage, bold Zinfandels, Barbera, and Chardonnay. Along the way we’ve thrown in a few small production wines to keep it interesting, and now, Syrah, which joined our lineup in 2002.
