Because the Osoyoos Indian Band owns both the Nk’Mip Cellars winery and the storied Inkameep Vineyard at nearby Oliver, winemaker Randy Picton has the advantage of well-grown grapes from mature vines. The vineyard has been growing Riesling since the 1970s. Because there is a mix of vine age here, Picton chooses not to call this an old vines Riesling even though the wine’s minerality has the fingerprints of old vines. The wine is crisp, with refreshing flavours of lemon and lime. The vibrant acidity combines with the mineral notes to give the wine a steely structure and a dry finish. The personality of this wine recalls the fine Clare Rieslings of Australia; like them, it has good potential to age. 88 points.

Tasting Notes:

Classic granny smith apple and crisp, fresh citrus notes give way to a gentle layering of luscious orchard fruit and honeydew melon. Dry in style, the flavours are well balanced and are supported by a crisp, refreshing finish.
