Editorial Reviews for Nino Franco Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rustico
Very fruity on the nose with notes of pear, apricot and sweet limes over a light dusting of dry yeast and white flowers. A bit enthusiastic on the palate with big bubbles punctuating fairly dry, slightly stoney flavors of pear and apple with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. This finishes with a nice dry apple and light mineral flavor that shows good length. A classic Prosecco. 87pts

Add your reviewThought this was an excellent bottle of Prosecco - nice citrus flavors, good acidity, clean and fresh. Maybe I like it more than some of the other reviewers here due to the fact that I got it at a very nice price here in Florence. I can easily see making this my "house" sparkling wine. Was perfect with a coconut curry risotto with shrimp last night! BTW - I can currently get this for euro 5.95 at my favorite wine shop in the mercato centrale. Even with a weak dollar it is a steal.
Faint citrus notes but not a whole lot going on here otherwise. I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with the wine, per se, but nothing really jumped out at me either.
I agree with the above comments, one of my more liked Proseco's! Little pricey but I have a couple on the shelf.
Nice prosecco. Enjoyed it more after the first glass. Crisp and frothy.

One of a number of rather split-personality sparklers we encountered, this opens with ginger ale and even beer-like aromas. In the mouth, the flavors are more floral and green. with mild lime notes. It feels brisk and the mousse is frothy, even bracing. Finishes dry with herb and grass accents.
The Prosecco grape variety, with its high acidity and aromatic intensity, makes an ideal sparkling wine. The Valdobbiadene district, in the Veneto region of northeast Italy, is the most renowned area for sparkling Prosecco, and Nino Franco is one of its star producers. Rustico has dry, clean, lemony flavors, with medium effervescence, and is quite refreshing. Franco makes other more expensive Prosecco, but the Rustico is delightful, and a good buy.
Franco's non-vintage Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Rustico is a textbook, frothy, fresh, pure, delicate, delicious sparkling white. While it may lack the stuffing of a great Champagne, it is the perfect crisp sparkler to wash down antipasto or to enjoy as an aperitif. The wine is best drunk during its first 12-15 months of life
There's a direct approach here in terms of the sparkler's effervescence that gives the wine an incredibly clean and pristine quality. Rustico is off-dry and the slight sweetness helps move aromas of chopped fruit, banana and peach to the forefront.
Franco's Prosecco Brut Rustico offers up classic notes of white peaches, flowers and sweet spices. This medium-bodied wine possesses excellent persistence and a clean finish. This is just about as good as Prosecco gets at the non-vintage level. This note corresponds to Lot 7310. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.
