Nik Weis Urban Riesling Qba 2011

Member Review by dynowine:

Much like its cousin the St Urbans-Hof estate version (which about USD4 pricier). Interesting wine where the fruit and mineral seem to balance each other; I particularly liked the consistent mineral taste in this wine. Somewhat fruity and slightly sweet, although not really beyond off-dry. The low alcohol 9.5% abv is good for crowd control. Probably a good wine to serve to the WZL (aka White Zin Ladies). Tested at 70 deg F. Twist and pour. Attractive nose of mineral, fruit, and hints of earthy dried fruit and leaves. Good acid on the attack with a slight glycerin sheen in the mouth nicely balanced against tastes of stony mineral neither sweet nor sour ripe fruit (apple-pear, citrus, hints of tropical fruit (e.g. pineapple)). Lingering finish of mostly citrus and mineral with hints of the fruit. Great QPR as tested, USD9. (0 views)

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
