Brick red appearance with tinges of brick red and brown on the rim; aroma of mellow old wood with a touch of dried apricots and subdued toffee. Colheita - 1998 - Niepoort: Einen im Fass gereiften Jahrgangs-Tawnie nennt man Colheita, was soviel bedeutet wie "Ernte". Sieben Jahre müssen Colheitas mindestens im Fass reifen, doch bei Niepoort ist es Tradition, sie noch einige Jahre mehr reifen zu lassen, bevor sie abgefüllt werden. Dadurch nimmt der Portwein einen sandfarbenen Ton an und sein Geschmack bekommt, durch die langsame Fassreife in den alten Holzfässern, eine nussige, holzige Note, die man fast kräftig-würzig bezeichnen kann.Ein ansprechender Portwein, der Aromen von Trockenfrüchten (Feige, Aprikose) offenbart, die Nase und Gaumen erfreuen.Colheita passt wunderbar zu Créme Caramel und Nüssen, aber auch zu Vorspeisen, wie Gänseleberpastete.
