Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley(1983)

While 1983 was very well known for the quality of Chardonnay produced, we believe that the warm days and cool nights in the Napa Valley were even better for Cabernet. The grapes from The Stelling Vineyard, located directly behind Far Niente and adjacent to Martha's Vineyard and Mondavi's Reserve and Opus vineyards, were harvested before the early heavy rains. Each of the three varieties used in this wine, Cabernet Sauvignon 90%, Cabernet Franc 7%, Merlot 3%, were hand picked and then hand sorted upon arrival at the winery.
