Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée les Gaudichots Premiere Cru 2005
Bright red-ruby. Perfumed, high-pitched aromas of raspberry and minerals show an almost liqueur-like quality without losing verve. Suave on entry, then bracing and stylish in the middle, with powerfully sappy dark fruit, smoke and mineral flavors framed by juicy acidity. Youthfully backward today but mounts slowly and impressively, finishing with a whiplash of flavor accented by an almost peppery impression of extract. Serious, structured, very young wine with a long life ahead of it.
concentrated, well-balanced, smooth texture, earth, burnt rubber, red fruit, spice
another 2005 bourgogne with the wonderful sikly finish. this was still a bit cranky when opened, opened up some and then fleshed out and deepened considerably on day two. very nice bourgogne.
Opened and not decanted about 2 hours prior to serving. A nose that you could smell all night. Spices, soy, sweet plums and raspberries. Palate is not surprisingly like a construction site- framed out but not complete- fun to taste, can't wait to try in 10, 15, 20 years.
