Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny "Groseilles" Premier Cru 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Potel, a bright ascendant star of bourgognes rouges, is a fanatic: selecting binfuls of pinot from the oldest vines he can find in the Cotes de Beaune and Nuits. Hence, yields are quite small and juice quite concentrated. This beauty, from a tiny "first growth" vineyard on the Vougeot side of Chambolle is currently showing a nose of sweet, upfront fruit, notions of violets and some brooding earth in the background. Quite soft in the mouth, it shows some nice integrated tannins. The 2006's from Chambolle and her neighbors are delicious now and will bring smiles for many years to come. Notes from a winetasting dinner at Landmarc, 10/28/08.
