What to Expect

Champagne is specifically a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France; every other sparkling is simply that, sparkling wine. Made to be aged for a few to many years, in many languages "Champagne" is synonymous with "party". When young, Champagne exhibits the fresh fruit tones of its "cepage", or blend. Usually based on a blend the features either Chardonnay or Pinot Noir as its main ingredient, Champagne's fruit can range from citrusy to orchard fruits and even red berries. The wine gains distinct yeasty notes from its secondary fermentation, the one that adds the fizz, which is typically described as recalling brioche or bread. As it ages Champagne tends to lose its obvious fruit, which is replaced by subtle nutty tones and subdued elements of dried fruits.

Winemakers Notes

a floral nose with dominant subtle of white fruits: pear, apple, but also almond and hazel nut. A balanced and elegant champagne which draws its strong personality in vintages of exception.

Reviews

Tasted blind, but i could tell it was a 'real champagne'...

Medium bubbles, pale yellow, straw color. Some yeast on the nose, but not overpowering. In the mouth there was a fine mousse of bubbles, its very sharply acidic, but was within tolerance. Some biscuit notes. Good, long finish.

Very enjoyable. This is a very good value and a good entry-level Champagne if you're spending money on the real stuff. They used to use only premier cru fruit in their NV Brut, but this has since changed. Feuillatte still has a strong focus on quality though, still.

"Very consistent from beginning to end. A medium-bodied bubbly, showing rich honey, coffee and citrus notes backed by firm acidity and a long finish. " WS 10/03

Wine Skinny

Possibly the best deal going on really good NV Champagne, this offers lush ripe pear and fig flavors layered with bright citrus, honeysuckle, creamy vanilla and a touch of spice that linger on the pretty finish. Ready to drink now.

Pleasant, crisp and refreshing, but not as expressive as I like
