Nickel Nickel Bonfire Vineyard Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2009
Established in 1997 by the partners of Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel is based on a philosophy of producing 100 percent varietal, single-vineyard wines that best express the distinct personality of each vineyard. It is from some of the most coveted vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma valleys that the Nickel & Nickel wines are produced.
very intense dark fruit...very smooth finish with tones of oak and vanilla which helps balance the intense fruit...spice undertones a bit on the front and on the finish but with not much on the mid...very enjoyable ...backend with vanilla and oak which transitions into more of a plum on the long finish
A nice California Style (new world) zin. Dark fruit, vine ripe blackberries, plum, just a hint of cassis. Sweet vanilla really comes through from noticeable french oak, but seems it may have touched american oak as well. Very little black pepper, and much more sweet ripe fruit than earth.
External Reviews for Nickel Nickel Bonfire Vineyard Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley
The 2006 Bonfire Zinfandel has beautiful aromas of red and black fruits. A bounty of rasberry and blackberry intensifies upon the palate, with black pepper and cedar enriching the wine. This depth of flavors is carried across a plush, middle palate, which is thick and jammy. This wine warrants consideration of 'a big Zinfandel' and yet is balanced, despite its rich intensity.
