Nickel & Nickel Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Bonfire Vineyard 2005
WINEMAKER NOTES: Bonfire Zinfandel has opulent fruit both in the aroma and on the palate. Raspberry and blackberry fruits expand upon entry, with some layering of black pepper and earth adding interest. The sweet vanillin and spice from the oak add warmth to the juicy palate and carry through into a long, supple finish. This wine is beautifully balanced despite its rich intensity.
Established in 1997 by the partners of Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel is based on a philosophy of producing 100 percent varietal, single-vineyard wines that best express the distinct personality of each vineyard. It is from some of the most coveted vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma valleys that the Nickel & Nickel wines are produced.
A nice California Style (new world) zin. Dark fruit, vine ripe blackberries, plum, just a hint of cassis. Sweet vanilla really comes through from noticeable french oak, but seems it may have touched american oak as well. Very little black pepper, and much more sweet ripe fruit than earth.
