Exquisite wine from start to finish. Simply a wonderful wine! One of the Best Merlot's I've ever had period! LOVED IT!!!! Cheers!Add winemaker's notes
Established in 1997 by the partners of Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel is based on a philosophy of producing 100 percent varietal, single-vineyard wines that best express the distinct personality of each vineyard. It is from some of the most coveted vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma valleys that the Nickel & Nickel wines are produced.

The Nickel & Nickel Sori Brico Merlot is outstanding. This 2005 was not quite as good as the 2003, but great nonetheless. Inkey in appearance with nice tears, spicey, concentrated dark fruit with hints of cocoa towards the finish. Worth the money.
One and a half glasses
[$39.95] Big, cab like. Red fruit, milk chocolate, oak; has potential.

Gil Nickel who founded Far Niente Winery started Nickel & Nickel with the idea of producing just extraordinary single vineyard Napa Valley wines. Each is very low production from a unique sub-appellation in the Valley. Proving that can produce Merlot that's as exciting as Cabernet, this wine from the 50-acre Harris Vineyard located in western Oakville, just east of Branding Iron Vineyard is aged for 17 months in 47% new French oak. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored the 2010 95 points. No score yet for this 2012 but the vintage has been touted as one of the all-time best. Limited!!!
The wine has beautiful flavors of raspberry, plum, and sage, with a spice and cedar element that adds interest. It offers a wonderfully balanced palate and soft, round tannins.

Wine Tasting NotesThis wine is quite impressive, offering layers of interest. Ripe flavors of dark plum and wild berry are enhanced by underlying layers of herb, cedar and sweet oak. The unique character of this vineyard includes a suppleness on the palate that few Merlots can offer. Its distinctiveness lies in the lush, velvety tannins that expand upon the initial sip and develop with richness through the finish. This evolution allows one to enjoy the wine today, yet also rewards those who choose to lay it down in the cellar.
This 2003 Merlot sings of the flavors from the Harris Vineyard. It is a classic Oakville Merlot with rich, berry fruit layered with dried herbs of bay leaf and sage and combined with notes of earth, cigar and spice. This wine has a beautiful palate
