Nickel & Nickel Chardonnay Napa Valley John's Creek 2006
Notes on the Nickel & Nickel Truchard Chardonnay 2006 : WINE SPECTATOR REVIEW: 90 POINTS Intense, with fresh, ripe, vibrant, snappy green apple, pear and citrus notes that unfold to offer hints of honey and nutmeg. Drink now through 2012. 2,185 cases made. -J.L.WINEMAKER NOTES: The 2006 Truchard Chardonnay is very consistent with past vintages. Tropical fruit notes of pineapple and kiwi are mixed with hints of mineral and citrus. The wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels adding layers of vanilla and spice. This wine has a full, creamy palate, which is not a result of malolactic fermentation, but a characteristic that is inherent in the ripe fruit itself, and continues on to a long, ?avorful ?nish. This is a very well crafted wine, very crisp and refreshing. If you have a chance to check them out in Napa I highly recommended it. You get a wonderful tour of the winery and sample most all of their wines.
I purchased this wine today to go with some crab cakes and white peach, saturn peach, apricot, lemon, tomato and basil salsa that I made for my birthday as we just didn't feel like going out. I LOVE the coconut, lemon, oily notes on the palate and the smoke on the nose with some slight spice just make this an incredible wine.
