Wine Tasting NotesRich and powerful yet elegant, the Dragonfly Vineyard Cab impresses with its ripe, jammy fruit and plush texture. The color is a beautiful garnet and the aromas reveal the ripeness of this fruit at harvest. The wine opens with concentrated flavors of strawberry jam, berry and vanilla wrapped in soft layers of toasty oak. The tannins are incredibly supple and long, adding to the warmth and elegance of the wine.

Nickel & Nickel has earned its reputation as a top-notch Napa Valley winery by producing vintage after vintage of exceptional, single-vineyard wines. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from the tiny, four-acre Dragonfly Vineyard at the base of Spring Mountain, is a perfect example. The site is located in the "banana belt" microclimate, where fruit develops super-ripe and jammy. It carries over from vine to wine in this sultry red, like a basketful of summer berries in your glass. Sweet vanilla and cedar notes support the fruit, as does the silky texture from 16 months in French oak barrels.

Winemaker's Notes:

Why? Dont miss this rare chance to own a few bottles of Cabernet sourced from the vineyard directly adjacent to Spottswoode Cabernet ($150/bottle). This 4 acre vineyard was traditionally the backbone of Far Niente Cabernets finest vintages. Tastes? Silky SMOOOOOTH, stylish and rich, this Cabernet Sauvignon impresses with classically elegant, age-worthy fruit and plush texture. The color is a beautiful garnet and the aromatic perfume reveals the ripeness of the fruit at harvest. The wine opens with concentrated flavors that include blackberry, spice, vanilla and a hint of minty chocolate that will expand with time. This new release features beautiful structure and complexity, the wine's silky tannins marry with the oak, creating layers of interest that progress into a very long finish. This is a SERIOUS collector wine that actually tastes fancy! and will reward big Cabernet lovers for the next 7 10 years.
